Remembering

We checked into our hotel in Anchorage last night and the desk clerk handed me a list of Memorial Day activities in town.

Anchorage remembers those who have paid the ultimate price to keep our country safe and free. We should remember them every day. Every time we speak our mind–express our concern about our government, follow the faith of our own choosing and enjoy all the liberties of living in the U.S.A.

Most of them were young and strong. Most were men, though many were women. Not all of them carried guns. I think of men like Glenn Miller and his band who died supporting our troops in WWII with his music. Whatever their role on the front lines, in battle, in support roles–we honor those men and women on this day.

We can honor them every day by remembering and never taking our country and the freedom we have here for granted.

While you’re at it–take a moment to think about our Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force and Coast Guard troops around the world today.
