Deja vu

It seems a lot of the news stories leading up to Christmas had to do with holiday shopping. Was the mall busy? The box stores on Reserve Street? Downtown?

With the economy struggling, the story seemed especially relevant, I guess. I must say I get tired of this repeated story. So I tuned into the news tonight to see what’s happening. Top story–the day after Christmas sales at the mall. Apparently Southgate mall in Missoula did pretty well (or at least seemed to be the same as the last couple of years), but the mall in Kalispell is very quiet with very few shoppers turning out for all the sales.

All of this begs the question–do Americans have anything to do besides shop? It seems like a weird way to spend the holiday. Of course I spent the day hanging out at home–working on clutter clearing, watching TV with my son and playing with the new espresso machine.
